In Today’s Blog, my friend Candy and I went to visit Victory Restaurant on Arab Street in Singapore. The restaurant specializes Indian cuisine for Murtabak, Biryani, Curry, and Kurma for either Chicken or Mutton flavor. As we sat down in one afternoon for a lunch, we felt their warmest welcoming gestures upon us. We went there over the weekend during peak hours but still managed our orders freshly done on time.
This is historically interesting because Victory Restaurant has been serving their loyal customers since 1910 which is over a hundred-year-old in Singapore. And surprisingly, the company owner is in the 3rd generation of their family’s legacy! That is why they are very known among locals in Singapore. In addition, most of their customers are tourists who pass by to become their regular customers. No wonder they have many customers every day, especially those who take away their orders for a drive-thru.
TRY OUT THEIR MEAL
We met Ismath who has been working for 15 years as a chef at Victory. He said, he made Murtabak, Biryani and some Indian Foods all his life. It’s his dedication and passion in serving customers and commending their food to continue their legacy in bringing Indian cuisine to Singapore and to the rest of the world for tourists like us.
In the above video, he showed how Murtabak is done fresh from the kitchen. He said that it is the MOST popular order from them daily. He was excited and gave us detour on its making and how it is done easily with his bare hands (all of them are trained for hygiene).
My friend Candy gave it a try to taste and comment on their famous food on their menu! Of course, all are delicious and some have favorites. She likes Chicken Murtabak and Biryani (beef/chicken).
Their secret to their long-lasting business is giving the best they can offer to their customers. They serve their food that is freshly done, with affordable prices and convenient location for tourists and locals. It is accessible to Bugis Center, Haji Lane, Sultan Mosque, boutique and souvenir shops.
It is a must that you try their food especially their Biryani when you visit Singapore or if you are living here to experience affordable, delicious and perplexing Indian cuisine!
