The longer I stay in this small country the more I realize how this small city is actually big. I would say that it feels like in a big city where I discover many interesting things that I usually don’t see back home in the Philippines. Here are some of the things that are different from what I used to.
1. Weird taste of coconut juice.
Coconut juice is one of the favorite fruits. However, the ones in Singapore taste differently from what I was used for in the Philippines. It tastes like an artificial juice to me. Some of my Filipino friends said, “you’ll get used to it”. I strongly believe that coconut juices in the Philippines are more tasteful and sweet!
2. All personal cars in Singapore are in compact sizes.
You won’t find American size with huge tires like Montero or Pickup truck. It is to minimise the use of space. Also, all personal cars’ plate number starts with “S” which means Singapore.
3. Surveillance cameras are everywhere.
Some buses have 8 cameras for your safety.
4. Tissue papers aren’t always free for public food center unlike in the Philippines.
5. Nobody lingers outside.
What makes Philippines fun is you see people everywhere, lingering in the streets and laughing out loud with friends everywhere, however, in Singapore, people just stay indoors mostly.
