I can’t believe it only took me about two weeks to finish the entire book. That attainable feeling upon reaching the last page of the book, thinking how Lang did came up with the idea of plotting the story full of twists and divulgence in the end.I wish I could encapsulate everything but I won’t take this opportunity to spoil everyone. Trust me, you’d be more ecstatic if you read the book. The novel does not only talk about love. It involves extraordinary adventures, intense drama, and charming romance.
ABOUT THE CHARACTERS:
I had felt the emotion and anxiety Aubrey was carrying since the day her best-friend passed away and I could not criticize her for blaming herself until the revelation came out. She was too fierce to have the courage to follow her heart desires.
Candela was more like this rebel kid who would take escaping as an excuse. Despite the odds, she still managed to stand up and fight for the love she felt for Dirk until the end.
Duck was this “husband material” kind of guy who became part of Aubrey’s existence. But, I felt more blissful when he regained all the strength he loss and start with his life again.
I fell in love with Gabe‘s role, he’s the guy who would travel and embrace adventure as his way of finding peace beyond.
Rad went through a lot of phases, from losing her girlfriend Ana down to losing his writing career. Little by little, he was able to find out what was really meant to him and why all those circumstances happened.
“Your first love isn’t the person you give your heart to, it’s the first person who breaks it”
“Things tend to grow bigger in your mind if you let them sit there. It’s always better to get it off your chest”
“That’s what boys can do, Audrey, that’s the power they can wield over you. It’s like being under the spell.”
The idea of love isn’t just waiting for a fairytale ending. We must live with the idea that it will always append pain, sadness, and anger.
We love too hard not because we want to but it’s what our heart speaks to us.
So the moment you feel that spark, that butterflies and moment where everything gets too blurry except for the person in front of you…
My dear, it’s love.
